Starting out
The fastest way to start is the free Chapters 1 & 2 demo, available on Steam (app 1690940), Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5 — and on itch.io for PC. Your demo save carries into the full game, so nothing is wasted. If you already know you’re in, the $24.99 full game includes all five released chapters with future ones as free updates. See the price guide for the details.
Chapter 1 is short and self-contained — roughly a couple of hours — so it’s a perfect taster before you commit to the longer chapters.
Combat basics
DELTARUNE’s battles are turn-based with bullet-dodging. On your turn you can FIGHT, use ACT (talk or check), use ITEM or SPARE. During the enemy’s turn you dodge their attacks in real time. You can fight every enemy or spare them all — the choice is yours, and it shapes how the story treats you. Full details are in the gameplay guide.
Saves & what carries over
Saving happens through Completion FILEs at save points. Between chapters, your choices, inventory, equipment and Dark Dollars carry over, so how you play one chapter echoes into the next. On consoles, save data can be imported from the free demo into the full version. With Chapter 6 targeting 2027, everything you earn now stays with you — see the roadmap for what’s coming.
